Any links to a directives database? Need airgun directives.

Postby MadMax on Thu Apr 16, 2009 8:30 am

I've been manufacturing a product for the airsoft market (a game similar to paintball) and would like to export my product to Europe. I'm looking for directives pertaining to airguns/paintball/airsoft but can only find references to toys which do not describe airgun like products.

Are there any searchable databases of directives available to the public?

Here is a link to the list of CE Directives: http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/newappro ... flist.html

Not knowing much about your specific product, I would guess the following Directives may apply:
Simple Pressure Vessels
Safety of Toys
Machinery

Underneath each Directive is a list of Harmonized Standards. You will have to review these Standards and determine which apply.

I hope that's helpful.

I recommend you to clearly state in the documentation that the airgun is not intended for children under 14 years.

I don't think that the PED and the Simple Pressure Vessels Directive apply. Have you checked whether there are any European or international standards for this type of product?

If no other directive applies, the General Product Safety Directive applies. However, this directive does not require the affixing of the CE marking.
