AC Switch in front of CE Marked Power Supply

Postby bt2 on Tue Nov 10, 2009 3:43 pm

Hello,

We are thinking about using a CE Marked AC to DC power supply in a new product (instead of developing our own and having to go through the related testing). We will also provide an on/off switch and were thinking the best place to put it would be in front of the power supply, but.... would this invalidate the CE marking of the supply? The reason I ask is because when we use our own supplies we usually place the switch after the power supply's input filter to help protect against EMC/EMI issues. We could always put the switch on the output of the supply but then the unit will draw small amounts of power even when switched off.

Any advice appreciated
